Barramundi Harvesting and Transportation

Barramundi Farm Harvesting and Transportation

During the course of 2006 WBNA was contracted to assist with the Barramundi harvesting and transportation from "Marine Harvest's" fish farm in Port Hurd on Bathurst Island North West of Darwin. Again the vesatility of WBNA vessels and crew was utilised by the client. Where required, or whenever possible, the WBNA crew would assist the Marine Harvest crew during every phase of the fish harvest and transportation process.

The Geelong and WBNA crew would depart Darwin with fish bins full of ice and travel the 100 odd nautical miles to Port Hurd. Using our deck crane and a harvesting net, the Port Hurd and WBNA crew would load the fish bins on the deck of the workboat with fresh Barramundi. After packing them on ice the MV Geelong and WBNA crew would then depart Port Hurd and deliver the produce to waiting trucks at the load-out wharf in Darwin.
