35 ton clump weight mooring relocation with TDS
This was an interesting project for the crew of the WBNA vessel the 'MV Geelong' which is an 18 meter MultiCat style vessel based currently in Darwin NT. All of the required "Territory Dive Services" dive / lift bag equipment was loaded onto the MV Geelongs front deck; then the vessel, equipment, and dive crew were mobilized to the DLNG Exclusion Zone to raise the old Thiess Marine moorings left over from the construction of the DLNG Load-Out Jetty.
The clump weights were raised using TDS Divers and 40 tons of lift bag. When they were pulled out of the sea floor the MV Geelong towed them in thier submerged state to their new home near East Arm Wharf. After being towed into position by the MV Geelong and WBNA crew, the TDS divers lowered them into their new position. They then became the new cyclone moorings for the Darwin Harbour Tugs.
